Sharing Dreams/Compartiendo Sueños 2004:
Sharing Dreams/Compartiendo Sueños

Eduardo Molto

Isn’t dream the initial sketch of creation? To create may be as aggressive as it is sublime, discourse may be as simple as it is elaborate, but the essence will always be the same: to offer the best in yourself.

It is said that intellectual and creative exercise enriches the soul. What is almost never mentioned is that at times it hurts, destroys, turns off or darkens. And artists, as the phoenix, reemerges from his own wearing away, after a work is concluded, to begin another one.

Isn’t creating to live in a dream? Artists take on their back the dreams of others and their own dreams. They owe it to the world, to the eyes looking at them, judging them, criticizing or praising them. Much is expected from them and, no matter the result, they are unsatisfied and always think there is a better variant, a more effective image, a more poetic language or a more efficient resource; this makes them usually feel uncomfortable with themselves. They only offer their dreams of that moment and remain with the thirst for their next work, knowing that it will surely be better.

To dream is perhaps the “freest” state of human beings, where conscience, rules, standards cannot be controlled... when you dream you are at the mercy of your illusions, your worries, your fantasies and even your repression. By dreaming, human beings become really “authentic” and they discover just how they are. To share dreams is today a practically unachievable utopia. Unachievable? Why don’t we accept the challenge of what is impossible and revert it in images? If someone is near to utopia it is creators. Let’s at least try together. Dreams/Suenos reflects a “mental” connection between two or several individuals from two different places or countries simulating an electrodream sessions where, aside from geographic or any other type of distance, they intertwine to share images, experiences. In this case, one of them transmits first his or her personal and professional experiences in his or her own images. Some better-defined, others less clear and more or less distinct, with illustrations and photography, and all this without a consistent line, as in dreams themselves, as an answer to a call in the text of a message...while another (or others) wait to transmit later.
