M. Teresa Valero, Education Director
Maggy Cuesta was born in Cuba, and grew up in Texas. She graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor in Fine Arts in Graphic Design. After graduation Maggy moved to Houston, Texas where she worked as a graphic designer. In 1985, she received her Masters Degree in Graphic Design from
California Institute of the Arts. She then moved to Miami where she worked for local design firms before establishing a partnership in The Image Designers Group. Maggy combined her professional obligations with teaching at the New World School of the Arts until 2005, when she was named Dean of Visual Arts for New World School of the Arts.
Ms. Cuesta has served on the board and as President of the AIGA-Miami Chapter, and in 2004 she was given the AIGA Fellows Award. Ms. Cuesta has been very involved in the AIGA both locally and nationally on collaborative exhibitions such as ¡Propaganda! Cuban Political and Film Posters, Power of Typography, and AIGA XCD Sharing Dreams of Peace Her work has been published in Communication Arts, Print, Print Casebooks, AIGA, Graphis and Hot Graphics USA.
